Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement


Columbia University is committed to adhering to the highest ethical standards.  An essential element of preserving the University’s integrity is to avoid a circumstance where, or the appearance that, any University employee receives any improper personal benefit from his or her service to the University.  Consistent with applicable law, the University has adopted a code of conduct and conflicts of interest policies intended to permit the University to identify, evaluate, and address any real, potential, or apparent conflicts of interest that might call into question the actions of a University officer in performing his or her duties.

The applicable policies are the Administrative Code of Conduct, Statement of University Policy on Conflicts of Interest, and the Columbia University Medical Center Conflict of Interest Policy (together, the "Policies").   An annual disclosure statement includes a certification that you understand your obligations under the Policies and have accurately disclosed your interests. 

This disclosure does not replace other conflicts of interest disclosures that may be required in connection with your activities for the University.

Changes In Your Disclosure Statement

In order to ensure that your disclosure statement is update please promptly report any changes to the Department of Internal Audit.  To report changes please do the following:

  1. Email internalaudit@columbia.edu to request another disclosure form. 
  2. You will receive an email from the Office of Internal Audit with a link to a new disclosure form.
  3. Please complete the form in its entirety.  You should report changes in your relationships, or new relationships, with outside organizations or financial interests in companies doing business with the University and any other circumstances that could give rise to an actual or apparent conflict of interest as described in the Policies.
