SpeedChart Naming Conventions

When creating new ARC SpeedCharts for these suppliers, or if you chose to rename your existing SpeedCharts, please be aware of the following:

  • •   The new naming convention is a requirement for all newly created SpeedCharts; SpeedCharts submitted to Central Administration that do not follow the new naming convention will be returned to the customer for correction.
  • •   Each SpeedChart MUST be ten (10) characters long.
  • •   A unique base (i.e., the first five (5) numbers of the SpeedChart) has been created for each department and is a reflection of your department number.  This naming convention will assist your department(s) in maintaining your SpeedChart list and will reduce the possibility of creating duplicates.  While a SpeedChart base has been assigned to each department, each SpeedChart   ends with two (2) alphanumeric characters that can be customized. Please find a list of assigned SpeedChart bases here.
  • •   For Staples, SpeedCharts must use the following format: STPXXXXXAA.  The XXXXX should be the first 5-digits of your department. The AA can be any two numbers or letters you choose. For example, if you are the department of Medicine, division of Cardiology, you might have a SpeedChart that is STP75183A1.  (There must be a valid budget line for the ChartString associated with the SpeedChart. The natural account for Staples supplies is 64150.)  See the Staples Advantage Setup QuickGuide for instructions on how to set up your account and profile.  Please see below for an example:

The SpeedChart base for A&S CORE GENERAL is 40011xx

Examples of possible SpeedCharts for A&S CORE GENERAL are STP4001101, STP40011AA, STP400111A, or STP40011A1

  • •   For PSS, SpeedCharts must begin with “PSS.”  Please see below for an example:

The SpeedChart base for MEDICINE CARDIOLOGY is 75183xx

Examples of possible SpeedCharts for MEDICINE CARDIOLOGY are PSS7518301, PSS75183AA, PSS751831A, or PSS75183A1

  • •   For NextSource, SpeedCharts must begin with “NEX.”  Please see below for an example:

The SpeedChart base for A&S CORE GENERAL is 40011xx

Examples of possible SpeedCharts for A&S CORE GENERAL are NEX4001101, NEX40011AA, NEX400111A, or NEX40011A1

  • •   For PCard, SpeedCharts must begin with “PCA.”  Please see below for an example:

Examples of possible SpeedCharts for A&S CORE GENERAL are PCA4001101, PCA40011AA, PCA400111A, or PCA40011A1

We do NOT require that you convert existing SpeedCharts. However, if you chose to convert them their new names must follow these conventions or they will not be approved.

Important Note:  It is extremely important that you verify that the ChartString being used with your SpeedChart is valid and will pass budget check. If not, this can significantly delay placing and/or obtaining your order.
