Methods of Credit Card Payment

The University allows the following three methods for accepting payment by credit card. How you plan to accept credit cards as a method of payment may affect the amount of resources necessary to maintain your Merchant account.
 

Point-of-Sale (POS) (face-to-face) / Card-Present
The credit card is physically present at the time of the sale and one of the below POS terminal solutions is used to swipe the credit card to process the transaction.
Mail order / Telephone order (MOTO) / Card-not-Present[insert definition]
E-Commerce / Card-not-Present[insert definition]

Merchant Roles & Responsibilities

Ensure you have the resources available to fulfill each of these roles and responsibilities. A single individual may assume the roles of Merchant Coordinator, Financial Coordinator and Authorized User at the same time. The SBO and the IT Coordinator must undertake only their individual roles and never assume the roles of Merchant Coordinator, Financial Coordinator or Authorized User.

In order to become a Columbia Merchant and accept credit cards as a method of payment, all requirements in the Manual must be met. Any requests submitted that do not meet the requirements set forth therein may be denied.

All Columbia Merchants must also read and comply with the Credit Card Acceptance and Processing Policy.
